When entering your store in the 'Purchase from' field, if you don't find it listed, you'll notice a plus sign adjacent to the input field. Clicking on this symbol enables you to add your store to the form.
When you scan your passport, all identifiable information, including your passport number and national insurance number, is encrypted. For enhanced security, your profile will display this sensitive data as asterisks or dots. Upon visiting your profile page, you'll encounter a digital passport symbol featuring a QR code. This QR code serves as a representation of your digital passport for Customs purposes. Customs officials will scan the code to retrieve any necessary information for processing your customs form during the clearance process.
Upon your arrival in the Bahamas at Customs, you will notice a monitor in the hall displaying a 6-digit code. This code is provided to facilitate and expedite your customs process. Once you arrive, please open the app and enter the code as shown on the monitor. It is important to note that not all ports of entry will have the 6-digit entry code displayed. In such cases, please proceed to a customs officer as usual, and they will assist you accordingly to ensure a seamless customs clearance process.
Please confirm that you have successfully installed the latest version of the Exempt App from the app store. Once installed, navigate to the app's home page and select "Bahamas Digital Entry Card / Customs Form C17." On this page, you will find a button at the bottom of the form that allows you to add additional passengers to your form. If your additional passenger is a minor (12 years of age or under), their account will be automatically created, and they will be linked to your account when you scan their passport. For passengers above the age of 12, after scanning their passport, you will be prompted to provide some additional information, namely an email address and a phone number. It's important to note that each passenger above the age of 12 must have their own unique email address. After adding your additional passenger to the form, an email will be sent to the address you provided for them. This email will include their username and password. These credentials will come in handy if they ever need to travel alone in the future, as they can use them to log in and complete their own entry form. - Note: If a user has already created an account and scanned their passport information into the app. When adding them as an additional passenger to your form you will not be prompted to enter any additional information for them
In order to save the form even though it's not completed, you MUST fill out the "Travel" information and proceed to the end where the Terms and Conditions are. It is the tab immediately after the "Tobacco" tab. On that page, complete the declaration currency, select whether you are applying your exemption to this form and then finally accept the declaration. Once it is accepted, select "Calculate/Save" at the bottom. By selecting "Calculate/Save" it saves the form in draft until it is submitted to customs. You can retrieve the form at anytime under "Edit My Forms" that is found at the bottom of the homepage. Then select the form type that was created and then the form would be found under the "Uncompleted" tab.
On the home page near the bottom you can find the Edit My Forms option. Select it then choose the form type ( eg. C17 Accompanied Baggage). Choosing Uncompleted shows the list of saved declarations. (This is once you have selected the Calculate & Save button on the form.)
In the Invoice tab press the plus sign (+) in the center of the app. You will have the option to use your camera to take a picture of the invoice(s) or to select the invoice from your gallery. During this stage you can add five attachments (multiple receipts can be added in one picture). Pressing Next completes the process. Your next opportunity to add invoices in when the form is in Edit Form mode. Here you will need to select the plus sign (+) to the right of Invoices where you will be able to repeat the process above multiple times.
On the home page you select "Edit My Forms" then you select C17 Accompanied Baggage at the top. The saved form will be seen after selecting Uncompleted at the top. Select the form to edit.

This is your first opportunity to add a person. Your second opportunity is when the declaration is in Edit Form mode. You will notice the "Passenger & Exemption" label and a plus sign (+) to the right. After selecting to add passenger in both options you will be able to select "Scan Passport to Complete". Scan and then select that person's relationship to you then Yes of No to use their exemption. Lastly select the "Add" button at the bottom. There will be a notification if successful.
Ensure you reach the part of the declaration where it asks you to "Calculate/Save" as that is where the form actually saves your draft. If this is not done, you will have to start over from the beginning. After that do the following: - Go back to the Home Page - Scroll down to the bottom - Select "Edit My Forms" - Select "C17 Accompanied Baggage Declaration" - Search for your Record in the UNCOMPLETED section. - Finally Edit your Record. - Scroll down and select the PLUS button beside the "Invoices" tab. - Add your receipts as required.
You can edit your form by doing the following: - Scroll down to the bottom of the Home Page - Select Edit My Forms - Select C17 Accompanied Baggage Declaration - Search either COMPLETED or UNCOMPLETED to find your record - Then edit it as you see fit by adding the items and any invoices that would apply for the additions.
The "Purchased From" field, you have the ability to edit the content. To do so, simply select the middle of the field, and a cursor will appear, enabling you to type in the name of the store from which you made your purchases. This way, you can accurately specify the source of your goods.
As a resident of the Bahamas, even if you have nothing to declare, it is still necessary to complete a Digital Declaration/C17 Form and submit it to Customs. The process for travelers with nothing to declare is straightforward. After entering your travel information, simply check the "Nothing to Declare" box, proceed to the next step, and submit the form. You're all done.
To ensure successful scanning of your passport, please follow these guidelines:
Find a well-lit area before performing the scan. Sufficient lighting will help produce clear and accurate results.
Make sure there are no kinks or bends in the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) of your passport on the picture page. The MRZ contains important information and any deformations may hinder the scanning process.

If you have followed the above steps and are still encountering difficulties in scanning your passport, you can attempt the following:
Try signing in on another phone or device. Sometimes, different devices may have varying camera capabilities, and this could potentially resolve the scanning issue.
Occasionally, certain devices' cameras may have difficulty reading the MRZ area. Although this is rare, it could be a contributing factor. In such cases, following the aforementioned guidelines becomes even more crucial.

If the camera on your phone is not functioning properly, there are alternative options to scan your passport and complete your profile. Please consider the following:

1. Log into your account using another device, if available, and utilize its camera to scan your passport. This will enable you to update your information successfully.
2. In the event that using another device is not possible, you can rely on designated kiosks or tablets provided by Customs at your port of entry. These dedicated resources are specifically designed to assist individuals in completing their profiles conveniently.

It is advisable to complete your profile prior to arriving at your port of entry in order to avoid any delays. However, if circumstances prevent you from doing so, rest assured that Customs will accommodate you by providing an alternative means to complete your profile.
